This July, 20 scouts from Troop 200, accompanied by 5 adult leaders, spent an amazing week at Camp Liberty – part of Heritage Reservation in the Laurel-Highlands Council in Western PA.  The camp focuses on the Patrol Method, where the boys worked in small groups to prepare and cook each of their meals, and clean up afterwards.  This method allowed the scouts to work collaboratively to accomplish goals, and forced each boy to be responsible for specific chores and tasks.  Throughout each day, boys worked to complete over 50 merit badges in areas such as Climbing, Motor-boating, Rifle Shooting, Fishing, and Robotics.  Free time was spent swimming, fishing, shooting, and an participating in an array of other fun outdoor activities.  Some scouts participated in special events, such as an astronomical night hike, an early morning Polar Bear Swim, a Water Carnival, and an overnight Wilderness Survival outing.  Some of our scouts even completed the mile swim!  It was an amazing week filled with learning, growth, skill development, and TONS OF FUN!
